Brutal Discovery on International Women's Day

On International Women's Day, March 8, 2025, a woman was found dead in the Cuauhtémoc borough, Mexico City. A few meters from where thousands of women were protesting against femicides and gender violence, the body of the woman, showing signs of asphyxia and sexual abuse, was discovered in a purple basket used for dirty laundry.

According to journalist Antonio Nieto, neighbors indicated that the place where the young naked woman was found is dangerous and poorly lit. It is reported that a man was digging a hole in the garden to bury the woman, but he was discovered and fled before he could do so.

Despite investigations by the authorities and reports from residents of Tlatelolco, the woman has not been identified so far, and no one has claimed her body. Forensic reports indicate that the death was caused by generalized visceral congestion, pointing to an abnormal accumulation of blood in the organs.

The woman, aged between 30 and 35, was found wrapped in blankets with obvious signs of asphyxia and sexual abuse in one of the gardens of the Nonoalco unit in Tlatelolco, near the José Antonio Torres Primary School. Although the authorities continue investigations to identify both the victim and the person responsible for abandoning her body, the case has not yet been resolved.
